In addition, students are taught test taking techniques that help them identify how to approach different question types.

The most fundamental material is presented in the beginning of the course, with coursework stepping up in difficulty. All coursework is directly relevant to the GMAT and builds the skills that lead to higher scores. Our course is designed to fit into busy lifestyles, with homework, class work and practice exercises that reinforce each other to increase retention of material.

Simulated GMAT Practice

Manhattan Review students prepare for the GMAT using actual GMAT test questions. Repeat practice solving real GMAT questions builds familiarity with GMAT question formats and gives students accurate indicators of their performance on the GMAT exam. Actual GMAT exam questions are used in homework and in-class coursework. Students practice solving actual GMAT question in both a timed and untimed setting. In class, questions are deconstructed, analyzed and studied to ensure thorough understanding of the problems. Instructors teach the most streamlined and efficient ways of finding the answers to each problem. Students then practice timed exercises to measure their speed in simulated test conditions. As time management can be critical in standardized tests, students learn to pace themselves and practice using time-saving techniques.

By stepping up in complexity gradually, Manhattan Review's curriculum is designed to challenge students in an easy-to-follow manner. The class format is structured to be familiar and comfortable for university students with lectures, question-and-answer sessions, collaborative projects, and homework that supports and reinforces classroom instruction. Instructors are accessible through online office hours for extra individual help. Students continue to practice successful GMAT techniques until they have full-confidence in their mastery of the material. Using this structure, Manhattan Review has built a solid track record of GMAT success.

GMAT Class Structure

The Manhattan Review GMAT course is designed to feel like a graduate-level university course. A familiar classroom format of lectures, question-and-answer sessions and reviews builds confidence in the material. The comfortable class size allows students to collaborate and share ideas. Homework problems reinforce coursework, and instructors are available for extra assistance in person before or after class or at other times during the week through online office hours. The primary content areas – math, statistics and grammar – are comprehensively studied to ensure mastery of material.

To prepare for the essay portion of the GMAT, the Analytical Writing Assessment, the class identifies all the essential elements that earn top scores for an AWA essay and then writes a top-scoring essay collaboratively. This method allows students to learn how their peers approach essays and to identify essay strengths and weaknesses in their own writing in an interactive setting. The Integrated Reasoning Section, the newest section of the test, is thoroughly reviewed to prepare students for this section’s unique material and unusual question formats.
