Some test prep companies in London hire on exam performance alone, but at Manhattan Review, we delve much deeper into a potential instructor. We want to know a great deal about a prospective teacher's academic accomplishments and background. Where did she go to university? In what subject did she major? What was her GPA? These are only a handful of the questions we ask in the hiring process. We also consider previous teaching experience, and we only hire individuals who have substantial prior teaching profiles. Our classroom instructors and individual tutors are distinguished graduates of the most highly ranked and esteemed universities in the English-speaking world. Additionally, they possess subject-matter expertise in a variety of different academic disciplines. Manhattan Review originated in New York City in 1999 by Joern Meissner, who at the time was a distinguished doctoral student and instructor at Columbia Business School. Meissner received regular praise from his students for his practical breakdowns of complex ideas. As a result, a group of these students thought that his style of instruction would be perfect for Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) preparation, as in those days GMAT prep was lackluster and mundane. Meissner went on to create a series of GMAT lectures that incorporated his trademark method of teaching. Early returns were remarkably positive, and these lectures would become the basis of Manhattan Review's first test prep courses.
Manhattan Review has since expanded into the world's premier international test prep company, with offices not just in London and throughout the U.K., but in cities all over the world offering services for all of the major standardized university admission tests.
